About

I’m Geordie Young, a licensed plumber and gas fitter, and the owner of Weekend Plumbing Co. in North Lakes. I grew up in Townsville and moved down to Brisbane’s northside before my kids started school, because I wanted them to have the best opportunities we could give them. North Brisbane and Moreton Bay have been home ever since, and it’s where I’ve built both my family and my business.

Plumbing was part of my life long before I picked up a tool. My dad has always run a distribution agency as the family business, representing plumbing manufacturers like Saxon hot water, Everhard drainage, RAM tapware, Harbic brassware and Timberland vanities. I grew up around the products, the suppliers and the plumbers he dealt with day in, day out. Dad always encouraged me to become a plumber one day, because he’d seen first-hand that good plumbers were always in demand and always respected.

I got the chance to do plumbing as work experience in high school, loved it from the first day and never looked back. The same company offered me an apprenticeship, and I started the day after I graduated Year 12. I’ve been plumbing since 2009. I started out in commercial construction and finished my apprenticeship doing residential maintenance, and that’s where I found what I really enjoy: helping everyday people with the problems that stop their homes from working. Fixing a family’s hot water or clearing a blocked drain on a Sunday means more to me than another day on a construction site.
